South Carolina Gamecocks secured a commitment from 4-star safety Davion Jones on July 2, a significant addition to their defense.
Davion Jones, a 5-foot-11 safety from Hough High School in North Carolina, chose the Gamecocks over LSU, Georgia, and Auburn.
He is the No. 6-ranked recruit from North Carolina for the Class of 2027 and No. 6 nationally at his position.
Jones' commitment gives coach Shane Beamer a second highly touted player in 24 hours, following the commitment of five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson.
Defensive backs coach Torrian Gray, who was promoted to co-defensive coordinator in December, played a key role in Jones' recruitment.
